1. You will be writing about your
Independent Book. To get some ideas, you will get together with others and
discuss your book. As you have this discussion, I will come around and check
off your dialogue journals.
Pre-writing
small group discussion: Use your journals and books to discuss and find
examples for these questions:
Get together
with others who read your book and share/discuss these topics and find specific

gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, etc.) Passages? Page #?

discriminated against or threatened or in some way negatively impacted because
of aspects of their identity? Why? How?
When? (give specific examples). Passages? Page #?
3. In what ways did the main character succeed
because of aspects of their identity? What parts of their identity gave them
strength to persevere and to succeed? Passages? Page #?
5. Begin writing in Google Classroom. In
order to write the best possible essay that you can, you will need to work
on this outside of class as well.
